So This Is Christmas.. and What Emotional State Are You in?

You know we all get to this point in the year where we look back over our shoulder and think what has the year taught us. I personally have thought about this a ton.

I know that the following lessons have been paramount to me. I hope they inspire some thought in you too.

  • Hard times teach you what people really are made of.  Did you crawl in to bed or make the best of the year?
  • Selfcare is a must. Shower, eat and tend to your personal needs. If not your spirit, body and heart rebel.
  • Time is limited. Don't waste it with people who don't value you or it.
  • Be intentional with everything and everyone. (yes.. darling I am looking at you) The minute you really start to think abiu what you say and what you do everything becomes clearer. You will nit waste time on nonsense or things that make you feel bad.
  • Look your pain in the eyes and tell it why it doesn't cripple you anymore.
  • Friends tell you the truth even when it's ugly.
  • Protect your space, time and energy.
  • Hard times create strong real men,   and they  show weaklings that they are lunchmeat.
  • Appreciate everything you have. I do mean everything. Be thankful for the clothes on your back, the food in your tummy, the snacks your nibble, the bills that are paid and that sucky internet that slows down from time to time. There are people who are going without these things right now.
  • Forgiveness is for you. Forgive everyone who has done you wrong. Let it go. Talk about it. Get it off your chest and then agree to let it go.
  • Know that the memories that you have that were sweet will keep you warm at night. They will stave off the tears from the sadness of the day.
  • Get good and pissed off with morons. They do not get to be coddled.
  • Choose your fights. Some things and some people do not deserve your energy.
People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They’re able to cope with life’s challenges. They can keep problems in perspective and bounce back from setbacks. They feel good about themselves and have good relationships.
